It is widely believed that the monstrous Titan that appeared during the Battle of Trost was a Colossal Titan. It was 60 meters tall and had its arms chained, suggesting that it was not able to transform into its human form. Although Zeke Yeager was noted by Reiner Braun as being around his height , Titans are commonly seen as larger than humans even if they are only in their human form. Despite this being the case, it should be noted that there are three known types of Titans: Colossal, Human-like and Regular. Aside from the Colossal Titan and Rod Reiss’s 120 meter huge Titan form, which were both 3 times taller than Eren’s 15 meter Titan form
What gave Rod Reiss a huge Titan form? Why haven’t Marleyans utilized this form to create an army of Colossal Titans?
Well, the reason for Rod Reiss being this gigantic Titan is because of his enormous size and shape. We could think that Rod Reiss had absorbed Historia Reiss’ soul, so he became this massive Titan. Although, there is a possibility that another Titan possesses the body of Rod Reiss and the reason why it didn’t have the same effect on Grisha Yeager was because he was injected directly with a serum created by his own father. It’s possible that this serum has something to do with the power of Titans (if such exists in AoT).
Abnormals Titans were confirmed to be the results of failed experiments by The Reiss family, one of which is Rod Reiss himself, who was the son of her mother. These experiments were conducted due to the fact that they wanted to take back the power of Founding Huge Titan, so they decided to speed up the process of adaptation that would normally take up to one week, and instead make it instantaneous. These experiments did indeed work well but led to unexpected results; some titans fail , and in rare cases, mutate into Abnormals Titans (like Rod).
Titan Shifters
In the manga, it was stated that Rod Reiss prepared Historia to become a shifter rather than a Pure Titan. His plan might as well have been to use her as a weapon against Eren and the Survey Corps in Marley due to their alliance with Eldia. This is why he made Historia drink the serum because she is part Zeke’s family and therefore has no reason to oppose them once she becomes one.
The Abnormal colossal Huge Titan has no way to produce and release gas, which was one of the reasons they were able to stay alive in their sealed state without eating humans. Rod Reiss’ son killed himself, and in doing so gave Rod the ability to turn into a titan. Since he didn’t have a gas sack either, he was able to maintain his human form and kill others without transforming back into a normal sized titan. When Bertholdt Hoover tried to imitate this process by killing Eren Yeager, he ended up turning into an “Abnormal colossal Titan” because he didn’t have Rod’s bloodline power or “Insert-namehere-curse”.
Rod Reiss turned into a Huge Titan instead of a Titan of normal size.
Rod is a titan. He began as a young boy who was caught inside the walls of Shiganshina District, only to be transformed into something else. Even though he had not eaten any human being and maintained his humanity, he grew beyond the human body and soon became a huge titan. He did not have any goals of becoming larger or more powerful; however, his single desire to escape from the walls trapped him like the many other titans trapped within those walls.
Rod Reiss was found in his mother’s arms and was taken by the Chancellor. From what he told Historia, he explained that his father had been protecting him from a monster until Mikasa came and killed it. However, when Rod was in danger, he did not do anything about it. This suggests that there were two reasons as to why Ymir created Rod: one as an alternative heir to inherit if Historia could not and two, he may have subconsciously convinced her to make him an abnormally powerful titan shifter so that he could be used as leverage if the Reiss family ever lost its power over the people of Titan’s Shiganshina district.
What can Levi Ackerman do to become a titan?
Ackermans are descendants of Ymir Fritz, the first King of Eldia, who was the first Titan Shifter and founder of Eldia. They are born with the ability to experience the powers of Titans as humans, but without becoming the Titan or inheriting one or all of the nine Titans (Zeke Yeager previously mentioned it at some point in the Manga). This is because their bodies do not produce any kind of special power or ability connected to this talent. They are invulnerable to the ability of the Founding huge Titan to change the memory of Subjects Ymir. Furthermore, Ackermans have inherited their incredible adaptability from them. Manga Spoilers for Huge Titan
So, if one day you are walking and bump into a thing that looks like a giant sausage, don’t freak out. Don’t start screaming, “Nooooo! It is a Titan!” And don’t run away! Calm down. The person who stepped on it, who may be your classmate or friend or even you yourself, didn’t mean any harm to anyone. It was just Titan bodies being tailor-made by a cute girl well-known as Ymir using sand. This girl has an ability to heal the damaged body components belonging to Titans and Titan shifters.
Titan bodies were made for the first time when Ymir transformed into her Titan form, sealing off a hole in Wall Maria. The process started when she ate an abnormal Titan called Uri Reiss and extracted the power before turning into a Titan herself. Before you ask, there is no one-to-one correspondence between Ackerman genetic code and Eldian genetics. At present, we only know that Ackerman genetic makeup consists of at least two pairs of chromosomes while Eldians have only one pair. In addition, no abnormal Titans have been seen eating humans until now. Therefore, it is possible to say that Ackerman DNA might not be involved in the creation of Titan bodies, or that those abnormalities are irrelevant to the subject at hand
