Manga comics are beloved worldwide. From epic adventures and thrilling action sequences to emotional dramas and thought-provoking narratives, manga offers something for every type of reader imaginable.
Manga series can generally be divided into two categories – shojo (for young female readers) and shonen (boy-oriented). Shojo stories tend to feature romantic elements while shonens feature more action-based tales.
Naruto
Naruto offers fans an abundance of distinct characters who bring a lot to the series. Set in a world governed by chakra, this anime boasts some of the most effective fighting techniques seen today.
Naruto Uzumaki hails from Hidden Leaf Village and battles a fox demon within himself before training with Kakashi Hatake to become a ninja. Later in the series, however, Naruto and his teammates meet Sasuke who is driven by revenge against Itachi’s brother Itachi.
One Piece
One Piece boasts an expansive cast of memorable and charming characters. Though male protagonists usually garner the bulk of the spotlight, women hold an important place in fans’ hearts too.
Chef Sanji, one of the Straw Hat Pirates’ chef and second-in-command, is one of the most beloved characters from One Piece. An adept fighter, Chef Sanji uses Black Leg Style and physical enhancements to excel as a fighter.
One Piece follows Gold Roger as he searches for his legendary treasure trove known as “One Piece”. To test his companions and colleagues, Gold Roger placed it across the Grand Line as part of an elaborate test.
Death Note
An innocent high school student discovers a notebook capable of killing anyone by writing their names into it. At first he uses it as a means to create an environment free from injustice; but soon becomes known by all as Kira – the bloodthirsty killer known for writing down names from all walks of life and killing them off one-by-one.
The anime adaptation of Death Note takes it easy on Light Yagami, while its Myreadingmanga counterpart doesn’t. The ending echoes classic Greek tragedies – an appropriate conclusion to Light’s journey as an antihero.
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
Hirohiko Araki’s epic shonen series boasts an abundance of powerful characters. Be they vampires, Hamon/ripples or their respective stands – they all possess unbelievable strength.
Joseph Joestar, Jotaro’s younger brother, stands out as one of the greatest protagonists in all the series. With power from Jotaro and intelligence from Joseph but the heart and kindness of Jonathan all wrapped into one package.
Polnareff stands out with his unique design and honorable, complex personality. He uses his Stand to seize property from surrounding objects.
One-Punch Man
One-Punch Man is an unconventional superhero comic series involving a hero who can defeat any adversary with one punch, creating an intriguing take on superheroic action comics that has fans cosplaying or showing other forms of fan appreciation for this character.
Saitama, one of the world’s greatest heroes, becomes bored of fighting without an opponent who provides sufficient resistance. This anime follows him on his journey to find someone worthy of taking on.
Garou is a fiery martial arts prodigy who detests heroes. He can take down multiple heroes in one bout while easily vanquishing monsters.
Ghost Fighter
After suffering an accident while trying to save a child, Yusuke is brought back to life and becomes a “Spirit Detective” in the Spirit World. With help from his trusted friends and colleagues such as Hiei and Kazuma Kuwabara.
Yusuke proves himself stronger than many S+ demons despite his low rank in the Makai Tournament, including brilliant plant manipulator Kurama and formidable Kokou – two other key characters.
YuYu Hakusho
YuYu Hakusho boasts a variety of relatable characters that are immensely favored and beloved, particularly its strong demon characters from Upper S Class demon school who possess incredible demonic/spiritual energy manipulation skills.
Takumi Kitamura of Let Me Eat Your Pancreas and Tokyo Revengers fame will appear as Yusuke alongside Jun Shison (Kingdom, Attack on Titan), playing Kurama. Kanata Hongo from Armin Arlert Live-Action Movie will join as Hiei. Yoshihiro Togashi created Hunter x Hunter as well as many other manga/anime titles.
Vagabond
Vagabond (Japanese: Bagabondo) is an epic martial arts manga series written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue that depicts Miyamoto Musashi’s life through fictionalized depictions based on Eiji Yoshikawa’s novel Musashi.
Root’s original features remain, while this downloadable content expands it by offering new characters for Vagabond faction. These include Adventurer – an adorable barn owl who uses any unexhausted item during quests – and Ronin, a raccoon that delivers extra damage during battles.
